My first stop was in Arches National Park just outside Moab, UT. After making at least a dozen trips to Moab in the past, this was the first time I'd been here in pouring rain, and it was awesome! I've always wanted to see running water like this small cascade I found just outside the parking area to the Windows section. It's been a while since I got that drenched while out shooting, but it was worth it.

Friday AM, I drove out to Canyonlands National Park in the thickest fog I've ever seen. The goal had been to shoot sunrise at Mesa Arch, but I didn't even attempt the hike, considering the fog. Instead, I headed back over to Arches, and did the short hike into Sand Dune Arch, where I found these next three images, and a lot less fog.

I left Moab around noon, and headed towards Telluride through the Pardox Valley. I scouted around the Telluride area for my sunrise shot for the next AM, then drove up to Lizard Head Pass to shoot sunset. Low clouds hung over Vermillion, U.S. Grant, and surrounding peaks, but made for a spectacular sunset. After that I headed to the back side of Trout Lake to sleep in the back of my truck for the night.

Saturday AM (2-15-03), I woke up at around 5AM and drove the 5-6 miles to the spot I had scouted the night before. This is actually in what looks to be a subdivision of new homes in the coming year. Not a bad spot for a little cabin I suppose. These two shots are looking at Sunshine Mtn.(12,930) and Wilson Peak(14,017).
